'Beds are Burning' song for the climate ... sucks
By Annabel McAleer • October 2, 2009 • 2 comments
A multi-celebrity charity single—a cover version of Midnight Oil's classic 80s anthem 'Beds Are Burning'—was released yesterday, in hopes of becoming the 'We Are The World' for the climate change campaign. What a shame, then, that's it's completely crap. More …

A few things that happened in 1966
By Annabel McAleer • September 1, 2009 • 5 comments
It’s hard to imagine a time when The Sound of Music could win an Oscar, the first personal computer was still nine years away, and one of the likely leaders of the western world was barely out of the womb. In 2051, 42 years from now, will we look back at today with similar relief at how far we've come? More …

Kiwi celebrities have been willing to put their names and faces to the Sign On climate change campaign; some have even been so kind as to grace our magazine's cover. But do they really know what they're talking about? Robyn Malcolm and Keisha Castle-Hughes say yes—and here's the proof. More …
So, 10 to 20 percent by 2020
By Annabel McAleer • August 12, 2009 • 1 comments
And there we have it: calls from the public for 40 percent CO2 emission cuts by 2020 have been met with a promise to deliver ten to 20 percent cuts (if other countries do too). It's not exactly what scientists, residents and leaders of our neighbouring Pacific Islands, the IPCC or many ordinary New Zealanders who are concerned about the future were hoping for from our leaders. Here are some of the responses from around the country... More …

Last night's MPA Awards were all good for Good, which won the hotly contested 'Best Launch/Relaunch' category against stiff competition from Mindfood and Oh Baby. But Good art director Adrian Clapperton was best in show, winning the Supreme Designer of the Year and Supreme Cover of the Year for his work on Good and Idealog. Idealog also won the award for Best Use of Photography, while Good was highly commended for the 'Genuine articles' feature in issue three. More …
Free money! Here's how
By Annabel McAleer • June 24, 2009 • 1 comments
You could cross your fingers and hope for a share of the $35 million Powerball prize tonight. But much as we all love Sonia Grey—the gorgeous MC of our recent Intrepid Volunteer of the Year Awards—we don't much fancy our chances at winning (one in 2.72 million for a six-line lucky dip ticket). You've got a much better shot at the $14 million in COGS funding up for the claiming. Get in quick! More …
Look before you buy

Want to flick through the current issue of Good online? Here's how. If you've picked up a copy already, read the editorial, and been left scratching your head about whether the cover is gloss, or matt, or different in any way to the last couple of shiny covers ... no, you're not going insane. The issue was accidentally printed with a gloss cover, and rather than waste almost 20,000 perfectly good Goods by ordering a reprint, we decided that confusing the heck out of you was a much more eco-friendly option. We'll be switching back to a matt cover from our next issue! More …
