Vote now for the 2010 Intrepid Travel NZ Volunteer of the Year!

A million Kiwis roll up their sleeves every year and volunteer for more than 100,000 charitable causes. Now it's your turn to help them by voting for New Zealand’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year.

Good magazine and Intrepid Travel created the NZ Volunteer Awards to reward these unsung heroes. There are 50 volunteers to choose from within seven categories, so there’s sure to be someone helping in your region on a project that you will care about.

Go to www.nzvolunteerawards.co.nz and vote for the volunteer you think most deserves to win. You only get one vote—so choose carefully!

There'll be winners in each of the seven categories, and the ultimate winner—the Intrepid Travel Volunteer of the Year—will win a $5,000 Intrepid Travel volunteering holiday. We'll help out by donating 20 percent of subscription revenue from the June/July issue of Good to the winning volunteer’s charity, and giving the charity $10,000 worth of advertising in Good.

All the category winners and the 2010 Intrepid Travel Volunteer of the Year will be announced at an awards ceremony in Auckland on June 8.

Te Radar, MC and comedianAward winning comedian Te Radar and presenter of TV One’s Radar’s Patch will be the MC for the night and he is delighted with the opportunity to reward our Kiwi volunteers.

“The best people in society are those who put up their hands and say, ‘I volunteer to do that’. They’re the givers who just keep on giving and the awards are an opportunity to recognise their contribution and to give something back. In many ways the real winners are the thousands of people and causes supported by these wonderful volunteers.”
