Home » Blog » Good and Harriet Lamb go bananas for FairtradeGuests enjoyed cocktails and Fairtrade edibles galore as they mingled in honour of giving producers a fair price.
Fairtrade superwoman Harriet Lamb attended Good magazine’s Fairtrade Cocktail Soiree on Wednesday on her whirlwind tour of New Zealand. Harriet has been a tireless international campaigner for Fairtrade for over a decade, is the Executive Director of the United Kingdom Fairtrade Foundation and author of the book Fighting the Banana Wars.
Close to 200 people attended the soiree as cocktails, ice cream and delicious nibbles were served up for all. Harriet encouraged the crowd to strengthen support for Fairtrade products in New Zealand, with a touching speech about the catastrophic impact of unethical trade on communities in developing nations, and the difference even a small country like New Zealand can make by choosing to buy Fairtrade.
Thanks to Scarborough Fair, the teams at Fairtrade NZ and Oxfam for their help with putting the event together, Kokako for the Fairtrade nibbles, All Good for the scrummy banana cocktails, Kohu Road icecream, Moa beer and Weka cider, Broken Shed vodka and the fabulous Wild Days Rum pirates from Waiheke Island...
