Green is really red, white and blue, argues American author Thomas Friedman. If you disagree, why not write the last chapter in his book?

Thomas Friedman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist turned business-book guru. But you might be able to write the last chapter of his next book.

Hot Flat and Crowded will no doubt be a best seller, like his previous books The World is Flat and The Lexus and the Olive Tree. The first edition is very good, full of great anecdotes and facts , with a radical message: that America can dominate the next century just as it did the previous one, but only if it undergoes a green revolution.

Hot Flat and Crowded

Global warming and peak oil are such clear and present dangers that going green is not just a nice thing to do, it's the American thing to do. Green is really red, white and blue.

This is not your grandfather’s green movement anymore,” he thunders. “This is Code Green. It’s about national power. Everything America can do to go green will make it stronger … What could be more patriotic, capitalistic and geostrategic than that?”

His motivation partly grows out of a sorrow of an America lost in a post 9/11 morass of moral and economic decay.

An American living in a defensive crouch cannot fully tap the vast rivers of idealism, innovation, volunteerism, and philanthropy that still flow through our nation. And it cannot play the vital role it has long played for the rest of the world—as a beacon of hope and the country that we can always be counted on to lead the world in response to whatever is the most important challenge of the day.

So what’s this got to with you? Well, on his blog he's inviting people to submit ideas for the last, unwritten chapter of a second edition. He's a massively influential guy and who knows you may get quoted. Visit the discussion thread.
