Let’s get the Global Climate Working Bees started!
Home » Blog » Let’s get the Global Climate Working Bees started!10/10/10 is rolling around super-quick! Over 1,700 events are registered in 140 countries.
Mark 10/10/10 in your diaries: it's the Global Climate Working Bee. Action is bubbling away in the planning stages across Aotearoa. With your help, it’s going to be the biggest day of practical action to cut carbon the world has ever seen.
Your working bee action on 10/10/10 can be as big or as small as you can manage. From bike riding with friends to organising a clothes swap, tree-planting or insulating your roof, every action helps make the statement that we want to get back to a 350ppm world.
Action in the community not only has the potential to minimise the effects of climate change directly, but also has the power to influence and inspire change in other sectors such as business and government.
What’s happening in Aotearoa?
There are 20 events registered in New Zealand. We have five weeks to turn it up!
Here are just a few:
- The White Roofs Project in Auckland will be painting many high-visibility rooftops white to reflect sunlight and help cool the planet.
- In Christchurch, volunteers from 350 and 1010NZ have been busy planning a number of events around town, from a native planting and live music event on SouthShore spit to a Frocks on Bikes city ride!
- There are Big Bike Fix Ups planned in Wellington and Auckland
- Lights, Bikes, Action! A Blenheim event encouraging the use of eco-bulbs in schools
