For the second year running, Starfish is offering its customers the chance to recycle designs from seasons past during the Starfish Great Exchange ...

Until August 12, trade in your pre-loved Starfish and Laurie Foon pieces for a 50 percent discount on the original retail price of the current Starfish Winter 2012 collection, Lunatopia.

Founder and designer Laurie Foon says when Starfish ran the Great Exchange for the first time last year it got a huge response.

“This is a great way for our customers to give their old Starfish or Laurie Foon garments a new life, and at the same time refresh their wardrobe,” she says.

Starfish will be selecting key pieces that customers bring in to add to the in-store vintage racks in their Wellington and Newmarket stores. The remainder will be donated to Dress for Success Wellington, a not-for-profit organisation offering services designed to help disadvantaged women find jobs and remain employed.

“We’re taking responsibility for what we produce. The fact that we are prepared to re-own and recycle our garments shows our commitment to producing products that live on and challenges the concept of throwaway fashion,” says Laurie.

Laurie says this initiative goes hand in hand with Starfish's philosophy of creating beautiful garments that have as minimal impact upon the earth as possible.

“Whether we call it up-cycling, re-using or re-loving, it comes down to the same thing. Our clothing is designed to last and we want to prove it.”

The exchange is limited to Starfish and Laurie Foon labels only. Clothing must be in good wearing condition, and be freshly cleaned or laundered. Visit www.starfish.co.nz for more.
