Win tickets to Last Paradise

Home » Blog » Rebekah White » Win tickets to Last Paradise

Adventure documentary Last Paradise might just be New Zealand's most exciting story yet, taking on board Kiwi ingenuity, crazy inventions, extreme sports, cutting-edge science and some of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Read on for your chance to win tickets!

Extreme sports meets cutting-edge science in Kiwi-made doco Last Paradise. Follows the story of a bunch of inventive pioneers, it touches on some of the most important issues facing our planet along the way:

In the beautiful wilderness of New Zealand, when necessity was the mother of invention, a maverick bunch of kids began experimenting with something that would change the world. In 45 years of stunning original footage we experience first-hand the adventures of early adrenaline seekers and join them on the roads less travelled and discover the world’s secret paradises.
Last Paradise is the untold story of extreme sports innovation from its comical beginnings to the cutting edge of what it is today. Between the lines is a shocking revelation of a wilderness lost, but through the same story we discover a science to save it.

Win! We have five double passes to Last Paradise to give away for screenings in Auckland and Wellington (dates to be confirmed). To enter, leave a comment and tell us where your favourite paradise is!

Paradise, for me, is a quiet spot between Pauanui and Tairua - beautiful clear air, gorgeous greenery ... and no other people!

What a cool doco! My favourite paradise would be Opito Bay in the Coromandel. Not too hard to access but hidden away in multicoloured cliffs.

Otarawairere beach, in between Whakatane and Ohope –only accessible by bush walk. The walk is a treat on it's own and the beach has rugged rocks (great for watching crabs and other sea creatures) and shelly sand. Although it's away from everything and looks out onto the ocean, it feels so cosy and safe.

I'm luckily enough to live in Paradise here in Leigh, and I appreciate it on a clear winter's day when the kids and I have the whole beach to our selves.

My idea of paradise in Aotearoa is Oakura...a beautiful bay in the Whangaruru Harbour! Dolphins, sting rays and orcas, beautiful beach and kai moana! And to make it even more magical I got married under a Pohutukawa tree on the beach there 4 years ago...the best day of my life!

There are so many paradise spots in NZ, Taupo Bay in Northland, Waipiro Bay in the Eastern Bay, Mt. Hikurangi, Golden Bay, pretty much any of the National Parks. New Zealand is a paradise in itself, we are so very lucky to live here!
(not interested in the draw unless it's showing in Tauranga)

My paradise is Te Rerenga Wairua, Spirits Bay - the REAL one not Cape Reinga, as now shown on maps. It the farest north one can go, pristine white sand surf beach which goes for ever & a calmer lagoon for swimming all year round. Basic DOC camp site - I'm heading there this weekend to recharge my batteries (I live in Auckland). Thank you for this oppurtunity. This is a must see movie if the trailer is anything to go by.

My paradise is the first bay round from Makara Beach in Wellington, clear water, interesting rock pools, hills to climb and it seems so far from civilisation!

Piha on the wild west coast has a raw beauty - combining both the sea and the bush! Our childrens backyard is the beach, the hot black sand in summer and the wind swept empty beach in winter. Our slice of paradise!

Opito Bay in the Coromandel,
In the summer, losing track of time and having no idea what day of the week it is, frolicking on the beach, the dolphins often turn up and its summer with the whole extended family.
In the winter, wrapping up in thermals, swandris and bright yellow plastic rain coats and itchy itchy beanies, braving it out in the storm to walk along the beach and seeing what the sea had spewed up! So many scallops, the neighbors cray-pot, loads of seaweed, penguins, fish, drift wood and fishermen rubbish.
After our walk we would wash our feet with the freezing bore water hose and end the night with hot milk Milo, a game of Yahtzee with a clear panoramic view of the lightning bolts! ah paradise.

Whangamumu Bay in the Bay of Islands, secluded and protected by DOC.  Fantastic view from the top of a ridge that is a 30 minute walk from the road.  Then a gentle decent through bush to a shallow bay (where my husband proposed!).  Love it.

My husband and I love to take the off- the- beat dirt road to anywhere and have discovered some remote paradise beauty in many a New Zealand corner.

One of my favourite spots was the rugged hills of Otago, with the majestic sculptures of natural stone set on the barren thyme scented hills. Felt like something out of the Dwarf chronicles!

My favourite paradise is Rapura Watergardens in the Coromandel - http://www.rapaurawatergardens.co.nz/.

If I can't sleep at night, I visualise myself walking or sitting in the gardens. It calms me and helps me drift off to sleep!

Hey, New Zealand is my Paradise!  No place quite like it.  Very blessed to be living in such an amazing, beautiful, diverse land. Lived away for over 10 years, no place quite like home.
