Don't be a muppet
Home » Blog » Su Yin Khoo » Don't be a muppetRideStrong and BikeNZ are spearheading a petition to make 1.5 metres of space a legal requirement to pass a cyclist.

Drivers often misjudge how fast a cyclist can pedal and often try to overtake very close to me. You're lucky to get half a metre, really.
Nope, you're not knocking me over—but what if I had to suddenly get out of the way of an opening car door? I can assure you that most people never check before opening their doors.

Here's how you can help stretch out my winning streak: sign the petition here. It only takes one minute.
As Good's official representative from the human-powered vehicle department, I am forever in your service.
And if you have attended traffic calming expert David Engwicth's talks (listen to his interview on Radio New Zealand), you will know that cycling in costume is a surefire way to slow traffic down!
