Happy Bike Wise Month!

Home » Blog » Su Yin Khoo » Happy Bike Wise Month!

Every year in February, the New Zealand Transport Agency and the Ministry of Health organises a nationwide programme of cycling events dubbed the Bike Wise Month.

If you’ve been thinking about ditching the car or do not want to be ruled by public transport timetables, this is the perfect opportunity for you to give it a go. It’s fun! Here are some tips for the first-time bike commuters.

There are heaps of activities for everyone—make sure you check out what's happening in your neck of the woods.

The highlight of Bike Wise Month is the Go By Bike Day on February 17 where a free breakfast is provided and there are chances to win some cool spot prizes.

And if you’re in Auckland, I might see you at the Sunday Social Rides organised by Cycle Action Auckland.

Happy journeys, everyone!

I deliberately replaced two car trips by cycling on the weekend - first time ever - and I found it wasn't that hard. What was usually a five minute car trip took fifteen on the bike, but it was a much more interesting journey. And in the overall scheme of things it didn't take much out of my day, and I felt better because of it. I wil now see if there are any other 5 minute car trips that I can replace!

Hey, I’m Holly Jean and am excited to blog my way through 2010. I am a typical 28-year-old urban girl trying to live a little bit greener for the sake of my health, the environment, and my pocket. One of my sisters is a true greenie who knows the ins and out of every chemical and toxin on earth, and thinks its a bit of a joke that I’m an eco-advocate. The joke part is that I’m a total urban girl who loves the hustle and bustle of city life.
