Thanks for all your suggestions—have added them onto the list. Keep them coming in!

I wish some of the community gardens were more specific about their locations though :)

Kiaora,

Christchurch:

Okeover Community Garden
Beside
Okeover Stream, there is a path between Ilam Road and Engineering Road
on the University of Canterbury Grounds. A bit hard to find, but there
is a map and more info here:
http://www.sustain.canterbury.ac.nz/comm_garden/index.shtml
Open to the whole community, not just University staff and students.
Regular
workdays are Fridays from 2-5pm (come and go as you please), + there
are lots of workshops and social events on at other times.

There is also a Council list of community gardens, but it was made in 2005, so may be out of date:

Westland will open it's first Community Garden on February 5th 2010, it is situated at Lazar Park on the corner of Park and Hall Street.

It is a small garden, but centurally located to suit the aged, local schools and the greater Hokitika community.

should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Glenys at the Westland District Council on 03 756 9082.

Hi from Wanganui

Youth Services Trust is putting together a proposal for a youth community garden in Castlecliff, Wanganui.  If any one would be interested in sharing some information on what works and what doesn't, it would be greatly recieved.  Hoping to get the project up and running in approx 5 weeks, focusing on 10 young people this first year and hoping to expand in future.
