With NZ Fashion Week 2017 now in full swing, Good takes a look at the menswear label French83 and their awesome Restyle Project raising awareness around recycling fabrics.
Second-hand suits have been given a new life thanks to the Restyle Project led by Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design students in collaboration with local suit company French83.
The Restyle Project aims to combat unnecessary landfill waste and reduce carbon emissions and is part of the Year 3 course curriculum at the prestigious art and design school. Customers of French83 are encouraged to bring in their old suits in return for a $250 French83 voucher, with the old suits then upcycled and sewn into new garments including bomber jackets, shorts, skirts and tailored dresses.
Traditional values are celebrated with every French83 suit design, with functionality and timelessness also at the forefront of the design process. French83 provide a vast range of luxurious wools highlighting the importance of natural fibers, and their collections also extend to t-shits to vests and other related accessories.
