New Zealand Fashion Week announces its 2017 line-up

New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) is thrilled to announce its much anticipated designer line- up for 2017.

New Zealand Fashion Week is back for it's 17th consecutive year in August, with more than 86 designers showcasing their collections across two catwalks, a purpose-built installation space, a new trade space and a handful of offsite show venues from August 28 - September 3.

The line-up is a celebration of New Zealand fashion with an equal mix of industry heavyweights and emerging labels.

NZFW provides a platform for New Zealand designers at every stage in their career, from the New Generation designers, of which this year there are four, through the three Contemporary Salon Designers showing solo for the first time on the NZFW catwalk, to a strong list of New Zealand’s most established designers, and the strength of this year’s line-up is a testament to how strong the local design industry is.

Familiar names on the schedule include; Kate Sylvester (hero image), WORLD, Hailwood, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Federation and Juliette Hogan, alongside Zambesi which this year opens NZFW having been chosen for the coveted Mercedes-Benz Presents Accolade.

The week will also see three iconic brands mark milestone birthdays. Huffer and Tanya Carlson each celebrate an amazing 20 years and Salasai celebrates 10 years in the fashion industry.

This year the trade week features three group shows; the New Generation showcase, the New Zealand Post Miromoda Show, which is the culmination of the Miromoda Fashion Design competition and is always a highlight of the week and the Brother Graduate Show which sees the best designers from four participating schools showing on the NZFW Catwalk.

Also back for another year is the catwalk show for Good's sister title, New Zealand Weddings magazine. And an exciting addition to the Fashion Weekend line-up is the Little Treasures show from other sister title, Little Treasures magazine.

This year’s event sees the introduction of some new initiatives at NZFW, designed to help designers maximise their opportunities to present their collections to the delegates attending during the trade focused week.

Another new feature for the week is The Cube a new space where designers and accessory brands alike can create installations to showcase their collections as an alternative to a traditional runway show.
