It’s no secret that the Duchess is an advocate for conscious living. So, a nursery that’s mindful of the environment should come of no surprise.

The couple are currently renovating Frogmore Cottage, a Grade || listed building located in the grounds of Frogmore House in Windsor. It is by no means a small home but an estate, which makes the renovation a project of huge proportions.

Planned is the installation of a low-carbon green energy unit providing heat, water and electricity, as well as an eco-friendly nursery, with walls painted in neutral vegan paint. According to Vogue, their brand of choice is The Organic & Natural Paint Co., a UK based company known for its natural paints and eco-friendly solutions for interior decorating. Vanity Fair and The Sun have also reported that the paint will also contain eucalyptus oil, adding a holistic touch.

So, what makes paint eco-friendly? Choose a paint that contains low VOCs: solvents that get released into the air as paint dries, often causing headaches and dizziness. If you’re thinking of introducing this into your own home, Resene have an extensive range of environmental choice approved paints that have been independently verified, a VOC range and low VOC products. What’s more, once you have finished decorating you can return your unwanted paint and packaging to the Resene Paintwise recycling and product stewardship programme.

Go a step further and hire a Resene Eco-Decorator to do the work for you. Eco-Decorators are a nationwide network of environmentally responsible, quality focused contractors who are committed to sustainable work principles.
