The lowdown on Restaurant Month 2017

Restaurant Month returns to Auckland this August, with more than 25 exciting new events and 100 special menus.

Street Eats returns for another year as part of Restaurant Month 2017

If you live in, or are visiting Auckland this August, prepare to be in foodie heaven during Restaurant Month.

This year’s line-up features 25 exciting new events and 100 special menus at three special price points: $25, $40 and $55+.

Some of Auckland’s newest restaurants will be getting on board, including SKYCITY’s Huami, providing a great excuse to tick these new openings off your ‘must visit’ list.

Whether you are keen to try something new, experience the international flavours and expertise of visiting chefs, or just make the most of a great offer from your favourite restaurant – there is something for every kind of food lover and occasion.

The Chef Dining Series will take place each Wednesday in August with international chefs from Los Angeles, Singapore, Sydney, Malaysia and Queensland teaming up with some well-known local talent, to deliver a unique dining experience. The line-up includes Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo from iconic meat-centric LA restaurant Animal showcasing their ‘dude-food’ philosophy at Soul Bar and Bistro, as well as Queensland Chef Ben Devlin from Paper Daisy sharing his knowledge and creations at Euro restaurant, using the best seasonal produce from foraging techniques and sourcing from our own backyards.

If you love Chinese cuisine, you’ll want to check out the Taste of Great China at the newly opened Huami. Renowned Kiwi chef Nic Watt of MASU and Huami Executive Chef Jeff Tan collaborate to present a five-course Asian celebration, bringing together cuisine from the regions of Canton, Sichuan, Huaiyang and Beijing.

If you love fine dining, you’ll love the Food to Die For at Pilkingtons event (see hero image) on August 14 and 15. Theatre and intrigue meet creative cuisine when Executive Chef Des Harris creates a dinner to die for. Take part in this night of fun and food with this unique event, carefully premeditated just for Restaurant Month.

The always popular Street Eats returns for another year, with central city restaurants, food trucks and pop up stalls set to serve up a myriad of international styles and flavours in the big shed on Queen’s Wharf.
