School students across the country went on strike to fight for change.

“The year 2078, I will celebrate my 75th birthday. If I have children maybe they will spend that day with me. Maybe they will ask me about you. Maybe they will ask why you didn’t do anything while there still was time to act. You say you love your children above all else, and yet you are stealing their future in front of their very eyes.”
These words were spoken by Greta Thunberg, the 15-year-old activist who started the now global School Strikes 4 Climate movement by skipping school on Fridays to protest outside the Swedish Parliament. She demanded climate action and system change. On Friday, March 15, students from across the globe joined her.
Across Aotearoa, tens of thousands of students joined the call for an immediate and urgent response to the climate crisis from our government. The message was clear: this new generation, the young kaitiaki of our land, are fighting for change.
