Maggie Marilyn launches a new

Maggie Hewitt is the fashion industry equivalent of Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand for being loved locally and globally. In Hewitt’s case it is for leading the way with her eco luxe fashion label Maggie Marilyn as well as her strong, honest, sustainable stance. Her label rocketed to success after it was picked up by Net A Porter and recently Hewitt was on the cover of Elle magazine in Australia.

Now she is giving everyone something else to write about with the global launch of Somewhere – an affordable diffusion line of quality basics constructed to last a lifetime.

Unlike other diffusion lines, which are usually of a lesser quality when it comes to fabric choice and construction, Hewitt has done more than two years of development, plus fabric testing to ensure the durability of the organic cotton, New Zealand merino and regenerated nylon fabrics. All garments are traceable through each tier of the supply chain from farm to finished garment, manufactured in New Zealand, and developed so they can be remanufactured into new garments when shipped back to Maggie Marilyn HQ. For this reason each production run will be numbered so when returned there is a deep understanding of provenance. The range is also an accessible price point.

“I came to realise the price point of the mainline was exclusive and not inclusive. Fashion should be inspiring,” says Hewitt. “We want to include a much bigger population of sustainability enthusiasts and allow people to be empowered by their purchasing power.”
