WE-AR evolution

From the yoga mat to ready-to-wear, the evolution of WE-AR continues to be a truly beautiful thing.

Walking the talk

Launched in 2005, WE-AR was born out of an understanding of the body in action, a respect for the environment and the individual, a celebration of happiness, and an appreciation of the simple beauty in life. The name, WE-AR, is the mantra ‘I Am, or ‘We Are’, meaning all is one. We are one. “Our name is a nucleus of our ethos and informs everything we do,” says founder/designer Jyoti Morningstar. “We choose to act with kindness to create a ripple effect of wellbeing.” That includes conscious collaboration and active engagement with the community; as well as mindfully made clothing for the planet.

Salute to the sun

Morningstar was a practising yoga teacher when she launched WE-AR and the range continues to include a yoga collection. The brand also holds free ‘Sunrise Yoga’ events throughout the year that are accessible to all levels of ability. “Yoga has been the steady heartbeat of my life. My mother is a yogi and every aspect of my life has been infused by the teachings of yoga. Yoga is an amazing friend,” says Morningstar. “Along with keeping your body temple radiantly healthy, yoga brings peace of mind through the knowledge of interconnection and our own innate perfection.”

Inspired by nature

WE-AR have been committed to using eco-friendly dyes from day one. Fabrics used include organic cotton, cashmere, sustainable fibres cupro, bamboo, hemp, Tencel and Modal (made from wood pulp). WE-AR creates clothing to sing, laugh, dance and be free in while you surprise yourself with your own amazingness.

B Corp certified

In 2016, after a thorough evaluation of WE-AR’s entire brand and supply chain, and meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, WE-AR became a Certified B Corp. Globally there are now more than 1900 Certified B Corps all working together toward one goal: to redefine success
in business.

WE-AR carefully select textiles, including its organic yoga clothing, that feel good against the skin, perform well, are of good quality and good for the environment. WE-AR have also developed a preferred materials list based on a rigorous life-cycle analysis that considers the environmental, health and social impact of the growth and processing of plants, fibres and textiles. And always looking for new textile solutions to meet design and sustainability needs.
