All taste, no waste in Wellington

Wellington food rescue charity Kaibosh’s annual sell-out event, All Taste, No Waste returns this August with a community-focused twist

Wellington on a Plate makes its long awaited return for 2017 with a plethora of exciting foodie events, including the ever-popular All Taste, No Waste event, run by food rescue charity Kaibosh.

This year head chef Shaun Clouston of fine dining restaurant Logan Brown is teaming up with the students of Weltec to bring his flare to a three-course meal, using commonly ignored or un-coveted ingredients.

Thanks to Countdown NZ, every ticket purchased will go towards a special dinner for those who regularly receive Kaibosh’s services and may not have the chance to attend this sort of event.  2017 marks the third year of The All Taste, No Waste event as part of the Wellington on a Plate series, on from August 11 -27. The first year in 2015 saw Shepherd Elliot from Ti Kouka (and more recently, Shepherd) take on the challenge to create a menu using what’s usually wasted. In 2016 Kyle Street from Culprit carried on the tradition.

All Taste, No Waste organiser – Beth Brash who is also a Kaibosh board member says the event changes and evolves every year.

“This year we have teamed up with Weltec, so there is also an educational part of it. This event will now be part of their curriculum. Shaun Clouston will teach the students how to be creative and create delicious dishes out of unloved or often thrown away ingredients. So that they’ll take these new found skills with them into the real world,” Brash says.
