The ASB Classic has announced a first class off-court experience for its 2018 tournament

The 2018 ASB Classic is set to be one of the most sought-after destinations this summer, with its lifestyle events rivalling its stellar player line-up.
Off the back of the star-studded 2017 player field, the 2018 ASB Classic returns with an impressive player line-up including Caroline Wozniacki, and previous Men’s Champions Jack Sock, Grand Slam Champion Victoria Azarenka and former champion’s John Isner and Roberto Bautista Agut. ATP Tour favourite Juan Martin del Potro has also just been confirmed for the tournament.
In addition to the established stars, the ASB Classic has secured tennis wonderkid Denis Shapovalov, tipped by many to be the next Roger Federer.
Off-the-court some of New Zealand’s top musicians and chefs will be bringing to life an unmissable summer experience action-packed with captivating music and the highest-quality cuisine.
The tournaments’ entertainment hub, The Serve, will expand in size by 80 per cent to include a larger interactive Fan Zone. The new space will extend even further into the Auckland Domain to offer a mix of grassed and platformed areas where fans can relax, listen to live entertainment acts, and enjoy tennis on the big screen with commentary. Local artists Boh Runga, White Chapel and Taye Williams will perform in The Serve.
For the first time ever, the ASB Classic will host the Sunday Sweetspot featuring a diverse line-up of music including Weird Together DJ Set, Peacekeepers, Sunshine Sound System, Dylan C and Chicorelli (Liquid Lowdown). This will be held on Sunday January 7 in The Serve, with tickets on sale now.
Serving up a taste of Classic Delights
SKYCITY is on board for a sixth year to offer delicious food from celebrity chefs Peter Gordon and Sean Connolly. The Sugar Club will provide a menu in the Moet & Chandon champagne lounge whilst pop up versions of Bellota and The Grill will keep event goers fuelled throughout.
Fans will also get an exclusive taste of SKYCITY’S newest restaurant Spice Alley via a pop-up in The Serve, serving Indian favourites including a Fish Madras Curry and Bang Bang Chicken Salad.
The popular Heineken Bar returns this year as the ‘Heineken House,’ a two-story exclusive VIP experience in the heart of the action. The Kapiti Store will also be returning with 15 different ice cream flavours available alongside some exciting activations from ASB and BMW.
Moët Ice Brunch
Returning to the ASB Classic is the glamourous Moët Ice Brunch, which will be taking place within the Moët & Chandon Lounge the morning of the Men’s Finals. Here guests can start the day in style as they sip on champagne and enjoy a fresh, summer menu inspired by The Sugar Club and designed by celebrity chef Peter Gordan to perfectly complement Moët Ice. The Moët DJ will be onsite to get the party started before the highly anticipated Men’s Final kicks off. With Moët Ice being the drink of the summer, the event will have a chic all-white theme, so all attendees will be encouraged to don their best tennis whites for a day of champagne, fine food and great tennis. The Best of Fashion and Florals
The ASB classic is also excited to introduce The ASB Classic Garden Lunch brought to you in collaboration with kiwi favourites Boh Runga and Kathryn Wilson.
It will feature a three-course- Sugar Club inspired menu and is set to take place just before the women’s semi-finals on Friday January 5th 2018. Runga will also perform a few of her classic hits in The Serve, which will be adorned in beautiful floral theming, followed by an intimate Q&A with Boh and Kathryn. As part of the fashion partnership, Kathryn Wilson has created a special release sneaker called “The Classic Trainer” available to the public early January. Tickets are available now.
The ASB Classic will span two weeks; the women’s tournament commencing January 1-6 followed by the men’s tournament from January 6-13.
