Escape to Kinross

Heading away on a mini-break can do wonders for your health – allowing for some vital rest and relaxation and have you returning to your daily routine refreshed and reinvigorated. Kinross Cottages in Central Otago provide that and so much more.

Dine amongst the 160-year-old ruins of the old cottages

There’s plenty to see, do and – most importantly – drink in the Central Otago wine region of Gibbston

Set up base at the charming Kinross Cottages, nestled amongst the locally dubbed “Valley of the Vines”, and explore all the area has to offer.

Kinross Cottages were built in 2014, with their cosy character and rustic design paying tribute to the pioneering spirit of 19th century Central Otago. The cottages are conveniently located in a stunning vineyard – meaning you don’t have to go far to enjoy a drop of your choice. Have a glass (or two) at the on-site tasting room or jump on one of Kinross’ bikes to pedal your way around the Gibbston Wine Loop cycle trail.

Alternatively, if it’s adventure you’re thirsty for, Gibbston has plenty of that on offer too. Situated halfway between Queenstown and Bannockburn, Kinross is just a half-hour’s drive to the Cardrona ski fields or a leisurely cycle to Arrowtown. Adrenaline-junkies will be able to get their fix at the nearby AJ Hackett Bungy and Rabbit Ridge bike park.

After all that drinking and exploring, it’s likely you’ll need a day of R&R. Never fear, you won’t miss out on the beauty of the region by staying indoors – you can feast your eyes on the breathtaking Pisa Range from the comfort of your bed.

When you awaken from your slumber, enjoy all that Kinross has to offer. There are pétanque courts, BBQ and picnic spaces as well as play areas for the kids while you enjoy a coffee at the General Store.

You can also enjoy a unique dining experience in the spectacular ruins of the original 160-year-old cottage. And, if you can’t escape your technological needs, Kinross offers free ultra-fast broadband and 42-inch televisions, all ready and waiting.

Kinross has it all: tranquility, adventure, romance and wine, wine and more wine – it’s the perfect mini-break. Cheers to that!
